I cannot get over how fast my girls are growing up. Only seems like yesterday that they were just babies. Time does fly. They keep very busy and we know that we are truly blessed as parents.

The girls....

Katy has developed a new past time. She and my dad have been going hunting. She was thrilled to go last Sunday with him. He takes her to the 'Mallard Oaks Duck Club', an area that he and a bunch of his friends own, just for the sole purpose of hunting. Katy was tickled pink (well...camo pink) because she shot her daily limit of 5 that day. They hunted right up until it was time to meet Haley and I to go to our 4-H meeting. Katy brought along one of the ducks that she nick named 'Fred". She also gave an impromptu talk at 4-H about the day out hunting with Grandpa. A few people didn't even realize that Fred was the real deal. Fred is now resting on ice, waiting to be cooked up on the grill.
Kacey is really enjoying first grade. Her reading has really taken off. In fact, last weekend, she drug out a stack of books and sat on the coffee table in the living room and read them out loud. I was cleaning house around her, and when I turned on the vacuum cleaner, she started shouting the story from the book so I "would be sure to hear the end of the story!!" Her class just finished celebrating the 100th day of school. They did all sorts of activities using the number 100. She got to string a necklace with 100 Froot Loops on it, and told me, "it was the bestest tasting necklace, EVER!!!"

January 11, 2009
Today we had a private ceremony to celebrate David's 39th birthday. The girls thought it was so cool because we had been planning it for a few days now, and no one gave up the surprise. We fixed one of his favorite meals, lasagna, and baked & decorated a football helmet shaped birthday cake.
Tomorrow we start back for a full week of school. It feels good to get back into a routine, I guess!!!??? Now that the holidays are over, I am just anxious for spring to get here. Hate to wish my time away, since my babies are growing up too fast anyway, but I LOVE warmer weather.
All three of the girls have been trading off time with Grandma to work on their sewing projects for 4-H. Today was Kacey's first time, which made me nervous for Grandma, but she said that she did very well. She got half of her dress pinned and cut out today. Can't believe that my baby will be 7 in April.

Hard to believe that another year is gone, and a brand new one is just starting. We had approximately 14 families here for New Years Eve. Before we knew it, it was 4 a.m., so I am guessing that everyone had a good time.
At midnight, I told David that it didn't feel like it was our 22nd New Year's Eve together, but then I looked around at our family and friends, and knew that I have been very blessed.
I am excited about this New Year. David finally has a Kansas teaching job, I am finally finished with college classes, and everyone is happy and healthy. The girls keep us very busy and we couldn't be prouder. Can't wait to see what the New Year has install for us and we wish everyone of you a very Happy New Year.
